The Pacifica Education Foundation needs a few volunteers to help with their Donation Drive on Thursday, May 2.
Basically we need parents (and kids!) to collect donations before and after school (from 7:35am to 8:20am, or whatever portion of that you might be available in the morning), and in the afternoon to cover the different pick-up times (1pm to 1:30pm, 2pm to 2:30pm, 2:30pm to 3pm). All of the signs and collection containers will be provided.
This is a really easy, but essential way to keep music, poetry, and next generation science education alive in our schools. The Pacifica Education Foundation (PEF) is a volunteer-run organization that funds:
- all of our music classes for grades 3-5 with Mark Unbehagen (Mr. U)
- fifth grade slam poetry with Mike Taylor
- the instruments and other materials for our middle school band program
- required teacher training to help our teachers implement the Next Generation Science Standards for grades K-8
Donation Week is PEF’s primary fundraiser, and is essential for ensuring that all of their programs continue next year. Even if you can’t volunteer, please consider donating $20 or more on Thursday, May 2, either at school or online. On Tuesday, April 30, you can also purchase Thank You Grams for $5 to send a personal thank you to Mr. U, Mike Taylor, and Samantha Johns (our band teacher).
If you are available to help on May 2 (or help give out stickers after school on Wednesday, May 1)use this Sign-Up Genius link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080f4ca9a72fa6fc1-donation (note: this Sign-Up Genius is for all the schools, and some of the times are a little confusing).
Thank you in advance for keeping music, poetry, and next generation science education alive and thriving in our schools!
