April 5th: Paint Nite

On Wednesday, April 5th a local artist from Paint Nite will assist and inspire us to create a one of a kind painting. It’s okay if you’ve never painted anything but your walls—there’s no experience necessary and fun is the only requirement.

All students in 6th grade and up are invited to participate, as well as all of your friends, family and co-workers. We will have an optional dinner meal to purchase. What a fun way to gather with friends. Paint Nite will donate a portion of ticket sales to enhance our co-curricular activities across all grade levels. May 7th: Pop of Color

Get ready the Pop of Color 5k run, walk, stroll is coming back! Bring the whole family to POP through a sea of colors along our beautiful coastal trail! After crossing the finish line we all head to Cabrillo School for an awesome After Party with dancing, music, prizes and food. More details to come.

January Jazz

After The Rob Schneider Music Foundation could no longer support our music program, the Pacifica Education Foundation stepped forward with a program called Music Matters In Pacifica, which decided to support the logistical end of our instrumental music program.

In 2010 Pacifica Education Foundation dedicated $21,000 yearly to ensure that the music program could keep on going. They continue to support the band. Music Matters in Pacifica was alive! In 2015, the Pacifica Education Foundation then stepped up again to put 4th and 5th grade music back into every school in the District. Music Matters in Pacifica is even stronger now. But it takes everyone’s support.

This weekend, Music Matters in Pacifica is hosting the annual January Jazz Concerts. The 4:00 PM concert will consist of our own Vallemar/Cabrillo Jazz Band Together, as well as the Ocean Shore/IBL Blues Dawgs.

We will have special guests from our alumni as Terra Nova High School Jazz Ensemble rounds out our afternoon.

The evening event, which is adults only, will feature three professional jazz groups. Reuben Salcido’s Jazz Ensemble is top notch. Our former parent, Norm Dutton is one of the members of Mo’ Jazz. And Blue on Jazz contains members who are also parents in our District.

These amazing groups are dedicating their time to do some great sets that you can listen to, dance to, or just enjoy friends company with.

We will have excellent food, and there will be some items for a silent auction. With your attendance, we could fill the joint and really make it a great party!

Our community really does support so many wonderful events throughout the year, and I appreciate all that people do in this community to make it better for everyone.

There is no Academic Center this Week.

Safety After School

If students are not part of the J-Teen afterschool program, or the Day Care program, they must be off campus by 3:00 PM at the latest. Academic Center is for completion of homework only. Students are expected to leave the Center upon completion of their work. We cannot allow students to remain if they are not doing their work.
