PTO Board Nominations

Dear Cabrillo Community,

The 2017-2018 Cabrillo PTO Board has openings for the following elected  positions.



*  Determine the Chairs for each fundraising committee

*  Oversee all fundraising activities

*  Communicate any fundraising issues to the board

*  Perform other duties as determined from the board




*  Organize and categorize volunteer information through volunteer forms

*  Distribute information (i.e. those wishing to be liaisons) to teachers for their consideration and input

*  Provide liaisons and/or schedulers with the lists for classroom volunteers

*  Create, manage and export electronic document

*  Send out volunteer requests to parents, based on volunteer forms, and needs of various school events

*  Oversee and coordinate with event organizers and committee chairs the number of volunteers needed and the specific job descriptions required

*  Send via email, sign-up genius, etc, reminders to volunteer and request confirmation

*  Report to PTO at monthly meeting through verbal or written report

*  Post volunteer names and assignments as a reminder of PTO Volunteer Bulletin Board

*  Coordinate a Volunteer orientation at the beginning of the school year

*  Coordinate volunteer appreciation (breakfast/thank you event)



Job Description:  (Same as the Lower Grade Volunteer Coordinator)





Self motivated individual who enjoys persevering and thorough research and web-searches to find opportunities to support the PTO, the school and the missions.

*  Experience doing web-searches and research

*  Enjoys writing positive, robust, and creative descriptions of the school environment and its needs

*  Write various grant applications according to guidelines

*  Has basic knowledge fo various profession writing skills

Dedication of Time:

*  Average of 2 hours weekly

Nomination forms are available in the Cabrillo Office.  All Nominations must be received by Tuesday  May 30th.  Nominees must be notified before their name is submitted.

Updates April 26

Grades 3 – 8 will be testing. Testing for fourth grade begins next week. Third, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth will begin the following week. During this time, please try to make sure that students are getting the rest they need each night and that they have an opportunity to have breakfast. The testing is not easy, and it does require some stamina. Please be on time for school as well. Students work much better when stress levels are low, and being late to school can put undue pressure on students.

Homework Center Is Closed During The Testing Window.

6th Graders’ Families Please Note: Proof of T-Dap boosters have to be on file in the office before they can begin 7th grade. They’re coming in little by little. Keep up the good work. Thank you. Only 18 more to go!

Pop of Color

Cabrillo’s Pop of Color 5K is almost here and we need your help!

The Pop of Color was created by our PTO in 2013 to raise awareness for health and wellness needs in our school system. Pop of Color 5K raises money and awareness in educating students about health related fitness, self-responsibility, and enjoyment of physical activity so that they can be physically active for a lifetime. Over the past few years, Pop of Color has become a well-known Cabrillo and community event. For those who haven’t experienced it, yet, it’s a blast! This festive and lively event can only be successful with the help of your participation, donations, and assistance. There are many ways to contribute to this event.

1. Register members of your family at   Register by April 22nd to save money during Early Registration.

2. Sign up to volunteer.

3. Sign up to donate or lend items.

4. You can send a monetary donation to help sponsor our Rock Climbing Wall through Cabrillo PTO’s PayPal account. Go to and send your donation to For your records, our tax id number is #23-7088162.

This is extremely urgent and have asked your PTO to pass this message from the Pacifica Education Foundation.

The Pacifica Education Foundation is looking for new board members ASAP. Our Foundation will cease to exist if we do not have enough board members to run it. We are at our minimum board membership of five members. Ideally, we need about 4 more members to fill out our board. Open positions available: Webmaster, Patron Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Events Coordinator

We are just like the PTO and need board members who can attend one meeting a month and help out with one or two fundraisers a year. The Foundation supports all the invaluable PEF programs district-wide, like elementary music, Slam Poetry, middle school computer science, and middle school band.

Hello Families,

Our first Family BINGO Night was a full house and a complete success. Congratulations to the many winners and great job to those who eagerly awaited their numbers to be called. It was wonderful to see so many families and kids from Kindergarten to Middle School, along with teachers, staff members, our Superintendent, and Board Members attend such a fun evening. We hope to have one more Game Night event this spring. We will keep you updated.

Bingo Night 1/27 + Updates January 25

This Friday (1/27) from 6:00-8:00 is

Cabrillo’s Family Bingo Night.

All proceeds will go toward co-curricular activities and lessons across all grade levels.

We will have prizes for Bingo winners, snacks, hot chocolate, popcorn and a $5 Hot Dog Meal Deal available. Cards are $1 per game and $12 for 10 games. If you would like to contribute to items needed, please click on the link below. We hope you can join us for this fun family event.
